A Cry For Medication
What would you do if you knew of a myth that had the cure for your disease but there was a price to pay? Would you pay the price for that cure?
A short story about deciding if it’s better to save yourself and release state secrets or allow yourself to die and protect what you know
To the time traveller,
25th July 2052
My name is Katie. I am writing to you to ask if you can help me. There is a myth surrounding you. The nurses whisper your name and say you have the cure for every type of illness. Please help me I am suffering with Parkinson’s disease. I’m currently on the last stage. It has robbed me of my life, my love, my work and family. You are my only hope. Please help me. I know you are reading this letter. Please respond before it is too late. I am waiting and willing to give you anything for that cure. They say you never disappoint so why have you not helped me in the last few months.
As I explained a year ago, my husband left me, I have not been able to work and the bills are piling up. I have no one else to turn to and I need your help. Please I am willing to do anything.

Katie, sorry, the responder was not working. It has taken me three decades to get it fixed. Me hair has turned grey in that time but I tell you with a few kicks and turns of the screwdriver, I got it fixed. I’m sending you this message as soon as it was fixed. No that a lie. I stopped at the edge of the universe and got myself a few feet full of burgers. They make the best burgers here at the Milky Way café.
Did I tell you it’s run by two cyclopes, a husband and wife. They are so charming couple when they are not trying to eat you.
Not sure when you will receive this message. I hope I’m not too late. How are you?
These time machines are not very reliable sometimes. I shouldn’t have stolen it but that is my nature. She called out to me and now she is mine. But for some reason she has decided she doesn’t want to do my bidding.

I am doing my best. You have really put me in a pickle. I got into my company’s database and searched for the blueprints to the MI6 building, but before I even got pass the security. The police and the secret services were in my hospital room. They are calling it treason, and they are coming to arrest me. I am trying to get the map, but you need to promise me you will give me the cure and get me out of here safe.

The police and the Secret Service along with the army and Scotland Yard have been at my bedside since morning. They have just allowed me to get my medication and check up done without them being in the room. I am writing this as quick as I can. I need more information. What is it you were trying to do?

You stupid women. Did you really think sending me half of the schematics would help you? My men were nearly caught yesterday. If it wasn’t for the guard on duty they would not have escaped.
As for the medication, there was no cure. You and so many stupid women across this world really believed this myth surrounding me.
I am just a humble car dealership owner living in Slough. By the time I have left this country you will be long dead. If we ever do cross paths you better make sure to run as fast as you can.
As to why I broke into MI6 well I needed to get my record wiped. I heard MI6 had a machine that was able to wipe all data about someone from the system.
That’s already so much information, but you can’t do anything about it. They will never listen to you. If you don’t die from your disease then you will die in prison for the rest of your life.

If you are receiving this letter than I have died. I know I have never been the best friend, but thank you for believing in me when the whole world had turned against me. I have given the government and the police everything I knew, and I hope that’s enough to catch this person. I hope my death allows everyone who was conned by this person to get the peace they need.

The myth of the time travellor has been busted and it just criminal gangs who were using fear of death to get their victims to part with state and company secret. With the information we got from Katie Hodgkin we were able to find that many of the emails addresses she communicated with were linked to one shell company. Our agents were able to look pass the data and find us an address. This was to be the head office.
Under the guide of head of MI6 Mr R were able to carry out a number of raids across the world. We had the most luck at the head office in London Spitalfields. At three different tailers and shops, we uncovered a whole network of gangs and criminals. There at their premises were found evidence. File upon files of evidence were find over three different offices. The older files data before 1800. This myth has been going on for a long time.
From what we learnt they use to communicate by letters through the Royal Mail coaches and carriages. There were over 1000 postmasters involved and getting paid by the organisation. I have to say for a criminal organisation they kept a thorough record of every transaction. See the appendix 12 for a list of evidence collected as there is too much to note on this record.
But as the technology updated the criminals also updated their information and contact details. They were using a multiple of emails many very basic and would fly under the raider if you were not looking for them. Please see appendix 13 for a full list of known emails at the time of this article being printed. It would be hard for anyone to get in touch with this organisation. You had to have the right email address. As Katie Hodgkin found out. She sent at least 758 letter in the year 2028. She has sent over 10,000 letters encountering over many difference emails over the years. Still going through the emails will update once we have the exact amount.*

May the records show that Katie Hodgkin was coerced into giving out MI6 headquarters blueprints. Due to her information about the whereabouts of the criminal David Gordon who was the currently leader of the organisation. We have learnt the business was created by Gordon’s family, and this was a family business
We have been able to get the blueprints back before they fell into the wrong hands. We were also able to find out many people who worked within the MI6 or government have been brought by Mr Gordon to leak more information.
On the 29th September at 14:56 at St James’s Hospital, Katie passed away with her friend Jane by her side. The funeral took place on the 15th of October. She has been buried in an unmarked grave in an unknown location. Due to her bravery we have located a network of criminals who have been preying on the retired spies of the world. The case files of many spies who were executed due to leaking government secrets are being reopened.
